Scrollin’ back through the timeline
I’ve wanted a dog all my life
I fought, and I begged, and I cried
But my parents just wouldn’t bite

So I ripped the pics off the wall
That I hung of dogs, big and small
I surrender, I tried
But now I just cry
It feels like the end of my life

Fast forward a couple of years
I got my first job, money’s here
I saved it all up
And had much better luck
Convincin’ ‘em to let me adopt

I named you Autumn
Yeah, after the season
You gave me a reason to smile
What a feelin’

I’ll never forget it
The first night I had you
I slept on the floor
Laid my head right beside you

Cause you couldn’t see me
And I couldn’t see you
I waited 12 years
So much love to provide you

But sadly our time was cut short
Three weeks
And it passed like a blur

While I was at school
My mum was at home with you
And she just couldn’t take any more

I’m sure that the couple was nice
I’m sure that you had a good life

Taken one street away
